I remember being six years old and my father driving me to SunFlower School in his big green truck. I loved coming to school. I would arrive to a slew of friends and friendly teachers.

Dear families,

My name is Avery and I am excited and grateful to share space with everyone this upcoming school year.

While this will be my first year in the classroom at Sunflower, I have spent the last 7 years involved in educational studies and socially engaged programs rooted in healthy early childhood and youth development.

This is partly what led me to Sunflower. My musical background has granted me the pleasure of assisting with the annual Shakespeare play and last year we revived an old Sunflower tradition known as ‘music circle.’

I have a love for music, people, and plants. I enjoy spending time nurturing my connections to the community and the natural world. This often looks like (but isn’t limited to): cooking, gardening, going on walks, reading books, singing, and doing music lessons!

My teaching style is responsive and intuitive to the diverse needs and learning styles of the evolving learner.

I know that alongside Rowan, our classroom will strive to create a space that will support and nurture all aspects of the learner. I am truly honored to help develop and guide their interests.
