Nicole A. Riveros
CEO, Director + Teacher
I’m a passionate teacher, a curious anthropologist, a children’s book author and a life coach and mediator.
Helping children become their strongest- and best self, while making sure they can be their authentic self is my passion.
I decided to be a teacher at age 10 and started teaching (in Hungary) at age 18, then coaching children and parents.
I full-heartedly believe in children benefiting the most from an inclusive, relationship- and exploration based education that focuses on the whole child while nurturing their love for learning.
In my opinion, education needs to be based on mutual respect where children can feel physically and emotionally safe while being academically challenged in creative ways.
I was born in New Jersey, raised in Hungary and married to a Chilean.
With that being said, multiculturalism is an essential part of my life.
I taught 10+ years in Hungary, visited schools around the world, then became a ´family member´ at SunFlower in 2014, when I moved back to the United States.
I love to travel and learn about- and from cultures and its individuals.
I have had a passion for anthropology ever since I was a little girl, so I started my journey early on which granted me with my Applied Cultural Anthropology degree in 2013.
Having cross-culture teaching experience allows me to expose children to a rich, transnational curriculum, which helps them gain a more rounded view of humanity around the world and broadens their awareness of different cultures and deepens their empathy and respect for others.
My goal as a teacher is to provide a physically and emotionally safe school environment for children, where they can feel comfortable being themselves, they can strengthen their social-emotional skills, while encouraging them to be critical thinkers.
Being inspired by my students, I published my first, social emotional well being focused children’s book in October, 2018, launched the second one in November, 2019 and finished my third book in 2020.
Since I find the continuity of professional development important, I:
Earned my ESE certification in 2016.
Attended a Teaching Tolarence workshop in 2019.
Completed the Child Protection: Children´s Right in Theory and Practice HarvardX course and earned my certification of achievment in May, 2020.
